This Privacy Policy explains what information Theme Park Patch Notes (the “Service”) collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. The Service includes our Discord bot, our Discord community server, and the website at themeparkpatchnotes.com. Theme Park Patch Notes is a free, fan-made hobby project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any theme-park operator or rights holder. By using the Service, you agree to this Policy.

The short version: we use Discord sign-in to identify you (we request the “identify” scope only, so we never receive your email or your list of other servers). We keep the update reports and contributions you submit. Usage analytics are first-party only and are collected only if you opt in. We do not sell your data or use third-party advertising trackers.

1.Information We Collect

Information from Discord

When you sign in, we use Discord’s OAuth2 with the “identify” scope only. This gives us your Discord user ID, username/display name, and avatar. We do not receive your email address, and we do not receive the list of other servers you are in.

Information you create

We store the content you contribute to the record, such as the effect and update reports you submit, corrections and other contributions, and related timestamps. Where a contribution is credited to you, your Discord display name is stored alongside it as the byline.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our servers automatically record standard technical and log information — such as your IP address, browser and device type, and the pages or resources requested — which we use to operate the Service, keep it secure, and diagnose problems.

Usage analytics (opt-in)

We use our own first-party analytics to understand how the Service is used. Nothing is collected until you accept the in-app privacy notice. If you decline, analytics are disabled and no events are sent. When enabled, analytics events are tied to a random first-party identifier stored on your device (not to your real identity) along with basic context such as the app version. We do not use any third-party advertising or tracking networks.

Push notifications (opt-in)

If you choose to enable browser notifications, we store the push subscription that your browser provides so we can send you at most one reminder per day. You can disable this at any time in your browser or device settings.

Cookies and local storage

We use cookies and your browser’s local storage for essential functions only: keeping you signed in, remembering your analytics consent choice, holding the random analytics identifier (if you opted in), and saving your preferences. We do not use advertising cookies.

2.How We Use Information

3.Information That Is Public

The Service is built around keeping a public record of the small changes at the parks. Your display name and the contributions you submit — such as update reports and notes — may be shown publicly within the Service, including in patch-notes feeds, attraction pages, the parks board, and any contributor leaderboards. Please do not submit anything you would not want to be publicly visible.

4.How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as follows:

5.Third-Party Services

The Service relies on third parties including Discord, our hosting provider, and publicly available theme-park news and data sources. We do not control these third parties, and their handling of your information is governed by their own privacy policies.

6.Data Retention

We keep your account and activity information for as long as you use the Service. Contributions you make may remain part of the Service’s public record even after you stop using it, unless you ask us to remove them. You may request deletion of your data as described below.

7.Your Choices and Rights

8.Children’s Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and you must be at least 13 (or the minimum age required to use Discord in your country) to use it. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have, we will delete it.

9.Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10.International Users and Changes

The Service is operated from the United States; if you use it from elsewhere, you understand your information may be processed in the United States. We may update this Policy from time to time; when we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above, and material changes may also be announced in our community server. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
